작가 - 채만식 [蔡萬植, 1902. 6. 17. ~ 1950. 6. 11.]
호는 백릉(白菱), 채옹(采翁). 전북 출생. 1920년대부터 30년대 초까지 우리 농촌의 현실, 지식인의 궁핍한 삶, 노동자의 갈등에 대한 단편들을 주로 발표하였다. 1940년대 후반에는 광복, 분단, 전쟁으로 이어지는 우리 역사의 엄청난 변화를 냉정하고 비판적인 시선으로 그려 냈다. 카프(KAFP)의 회원은 아니었으나, 프롤레타리아 문학 사상과 비슷한 길을 가는 ‘동반자 작가’의 경향을 보이며 혼란스러운 사회를 묘사하였다. 대표작으로는 , , , , , 등이 있다.

서울대학교 사범대학 국어교육과를 졸업하고, 같은 대학 대학원에서 석사 학위를 받았다. 서울 동일여자고등학교를 거쳐 서울 하나고등학교에서 국어교사로 재직 중이다. 서울특별시 과학전시관 영재교육지원센터에서 주관하는 문예창작영재 교재 개발에 참여했고, 다양한 국가시험의 출제 및 검토위원으로 활동하고 있다. 저서로 《고등학교 국어(상, 하)》(금성출판사 2007 개정 교육과정), 《EBS 고교 국어 듣기》, 《EBS 파이널 실전 모의고사 언어영역》 외 다수
