おかあさんの誕生日は、子どもにとっても大切な日。子どもの失敗をおおらかに包み込んでくれる、おかあさんの優しさを、暖かく、楽しく描く絵本です。今日は、3びきのこぶたのおかあさんの誕生日です。3びきは、おかあさんの好きな食べ物を、それぞれプレゼントすることにしました。おおぶたちゃんはりんごを買いました。ところがあまりにおいしそうで、つい食べてしまいます。残ったのはしんだけ。ちゅうぶたちゃんはアイスクリームを買います。でもやっぱり食べてしまい、残りはぼうだけ。ちいぶたちゃんはたいやきを買い、やっぱり食べてしまいます。そして、落ちていたなべをあげることにしますが、そこに穴があいていました。パーティーが始まっても、3びきはしょんぼり。わけを知ったおかあさんは、「3つとも役に立つわよ」と言い、穴のあいたなべに土を入れ、りんごの種を植え、アイスのぼうに「りんご」と書きました。「ねっ、みんな役に立ったでしょう」。 【PHP研究所】
