This is the second Jack Reacher novel I've read now and once you've read one you know what you're going to get with the others: A modern, murder mystery/espionage/conspiracy, thriller with a hero you know will out smart, out gun and out do everyone else. And that's not necessarily a bad thing. For a holiday read it's perfect and I tore through it in a matter of days. So to the book itself. The narrative is neatly written, it's short and sharp and to the point. Much like the dialogue. I guessed who the 'traitorous' character was about half way through the book, which felt a little early to me, so I'm not sure if the clues were just too obvious or if I was just being particularly astute. If it was the second then I think it was quite clever because the clues were obviously there to be interpreted. Even so, despite knowing who's the guilty party and knowing that Reacher will win in the end it was still exciting to read on and find out how it was all going to happen.

Maybe because I love Lee child's work I saw the big plot twist far too early to find the book as enjoyable as I usually find them. It also led me find the pace a bit slow as I'd already worked out the ending. That being said, still a great read and a another classic Reacher novel.

Utter rubbish, this is the worst of the Reacher series I have read. You can see the plot after the first few chapters and there are no twists or turns in the plot that you didn't see coming. The characters which are not Lee Child's strong point anyway are just awful in this book, almost beyond anything else I have ever read
