About this ebook

Don't forget the bear spray. This is foremost in AK Turner's mind as she travels with her husband and two daughters north through Canada, along the Alaska Marine Highway, and ultimately to a tiny, roadless island, accessible only by boat from the nearby town of Sitka. The foursome adapts to island life, where their neighbors are few humans and thousands of giant slugs. With adventures in hot-springs hunting, fishing (kill the fish before filleting), and hiking on rain-forested volcanic islands, Vagabonding with Kids: Alaska provides raucous insight into life on the Alexander Archipelago.

"If Bill Bryson were a traveling mom, he'd be AK Turner's spirit animal."
-Erica Virvo, Director of Global Operations, Nomadic Matt

"I love the Vagabonding with Kids series. It's like getting all the adventure but making AK Turner take all the mosquito bites on your behalf."
-Lynn Morrison, The Nomad Mom Diary

"I'm not sure if AK Turner has super powers or is completely insane, gallivanting around the world as she does, but at least she makes us laugh along the way. The Vagabonding with Kids series is a wild, hilarious ride into famous cities and parts unknown. So yeah, I'm pretty sure she's crazy."
-Jen Mann, New York Times bestselling author of People I Want to Punch in the Throat

“AK Turner shares what many of us only dream of, traveling the world with children. While it’s not romanticized as being challenge-free, she shares a life experience interlaced with humorous moments that make many of us believe our dreams are actually within reach... if we can just take that first step.”
– Jim Pickell, President, HomeExchange.com

“Refreshing, honest, and humorous. I couldn’t put it down!”
– Vicky Etherington, Eat Sleep Love Travel

“... a rollicking, outrageous, hilarious adventure. Buckle up!”
– Michelle Newman, You’re My Favorite Today

“Adventurous, funny, and inspirational, this book will convince you that traveling with kids isn’t impossible. It’s irresistible.”
– Karen Alpert, New York Times bestselling author of I Heart My Little A-Holes and I Want My Epidural Back

The best one yet! Having read all of AK Turner’s books, this one by far caught the most side-eye from fellow passengers as I giggled through takeoff, landing and the duration of my last flight. Turner’s deadpan descriptions of their travels while poking fun at her family and herself, make me feel like I’m in the backseat asking, “are we there yet?” As a father of two young boys, I’ve found her books to be an inspiration to log off, disconnect, and enjoy experiencing the world through their eyes.

Every time I read one of AK Turner's books, I feel like I've adopted an incredible family for the duration of the read. Their adventures are not sugar-coated, nor are they fictitious. They are true to life, honest stories about real people in real life situations, exploring the world as a family. In her newest book, Turner takes us along on their road trip through Idaho, and Canada, culminating in the family's breathtaking Alaskan adventures. Written with Turner's trademark extraordinary wit and wry humor, this book is impossible to put down.

Like all of her other books I so enjoyed another adventure with AK Turner and her family. It's real, it's funny and just the break you will need from the daily grind of life. It will have you laughing on the first page.
