About this eBook

Both radar and lidar have proved valuable in studying cloud microphysics and dynamics. Because of the large difference in wavelength, the two techniques have differing penetration capabilities and detection sensitivities. A "system-free" comparison of radar and lidar for several missions and many cloud types is presented to permit the optimum choice of technique for field studies of cloud formation, development, and precipitation.
