This series centers around three strong Montana sisters who have to overcome many obstacles to find love. Kelly Shannon is a patrol officer who is carrying a misplaced guilt after a driver, driving under the influence, crashes into a tree and dies. More devastating was the fact that she knew him. Mick Mizzoni is a journalist in the local paper, and the brother of the deceased. He’s also the “boy” she had a crush on in HS.
His brother left behind a 5 year old son, too serious for his age, a two year old girl that has stopped talking since the death of her father, and a wife that not only neglects her children regularly, but has an addiction. All Mick wants is to help the kids and even have custody of them. He embarks Kelly’s help in giving the kids a wonderful Christmas. One like he never experienced it in his childhood with his drunken mother and absent father . But in helping , Kelly’s view of life as black and white , gets blurry. Will Mick be able to help the kids? Will Kelly help him? Will each of their past interfere in finding happiness in the present and the future? Though I am partial to book one, this one was still a good story. A reminder that our childhood does in fact affect us as adults . Also that life is really different shades of gray. A beautiful Christmas romance full family, traditions and a sweet romance. Kelly is the town sheriff and is feeling a little saddened over a DUI with a fatality, leaving two little kids without a father at Christmas time and an alcoholic mom . Mick is single and the uncle to these two little ones, he will do anything to keep these two safe, not wanting the holidays when he was growing up. Kelly soon teams up with Mick to provide a wonderful Christmas holiday season. Of course they can't deny the chemistry that they share. This was a story that I read in one sitting, full of emotion. I must admit I did get a few misty eyes at times. Love this family, immediate and extended. My heart broke for the two littles but loved how their uncle stepped up. This is the second book in The Shannon Sisters but can be read as a stand alone. I highly recommend this book.

Delivering the awful news to the driver’s young family and his brother, her friend and crush, Mick, is way harder than she ever expected. As grief affects the victim’s wife, leaving her young children unsupervised and neglected, Kelly takes time to drive by their house, worrying and feeling guilty for her role in their father’s death. Journalist Mick Mizzoni spent much of his life trying to keep his younger brother out of trouble. When he gains temporary guardianship of his niece and nephew he turns to Kelly for help. At first, Kelly convinces herself she is helping Mick to make up for the guilt she feels for the accident. As Christmas approaches, Kelly finds herself falling for Mick and the children; giving Mick hope that maybe this holiday could be different. It will take a Christmas miracle for Mick and Kelly to get what they truly want; love and an instant family. Ms Carmichael wrote a wonderful, intriguing, and emotional story that is definitely not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with chemistry, adventures, loving sisters, and charming characters giving Kelly and Mick a chance at love. I highly recommend A Convenient Christmas Proposal to other readers and look forward to the next book in this series. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
