The book is written in old pre-Chomskyean style; it is mainly based on Latin grammar approaches and was very helpful to me, as I have some knowledge in linguistics. However, the book might be hard to read for the people who have no such experience and need to study French in a short time, and do not really care much about its grammar and particular phenomena occurring in it . Nevertheless, one can observe direct (kind of inaccurate from modern points) correspondance of French grammar rules with English one through classical grammar, which is still primary source to study languages in schools. So, reading these rules, one can get rough idea about "what French words and sentences are". Therefore, the book has high value till today, and can be used for linguistic uses and as for personal tutoring purposes. I really suggest to have a look at it, cause It's FREE guys!!!
