Personal Look at How to Travel Better I loved to travel when I was younger, but then adult life and responsibilities reared their ugly heads. Only just recently have I started traveling again. I'll admit to having dreams of building a laptop business that will allow me to travel more. So I'm always curious about travel books when I see them at my favorite book review site. This book covers topics from why we should travel to the money aspects (both before and during the trip) to risks to travel companions to even some things to consider when you arrive back home, like jet lag. The author definitely has strong opinions. On some topics, I would even call her opinionated. But that's fine. I actually really enjoy books that are written from a very personal perspective. I find it fascinating to get one person's actual experiences and insights rather than just generic things that you often find in nonfiction in general and even in travel books, unfortunately. I did feel, though, that the book was somewhat ponderously written and could have done with the judicious hand of a good editor. Reading it at times was a little slow going. But there are definitely little pearls of hard-won wisdom here as well as some excellent topics to think about before you plan your next travel adventure. I know I will be reading it while preparing for my next trip and taking notes! I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
