About this eBook

A Man Named Dave, which has sold over 1 million copies, is the gripping conclusion to Dave Pelzer’s inspirational and New York Times bestselling trilogy of memoirs that began with A Child Called "It" and The Lost Boy.

"All those years you tried your best to break me, and I'm still here. One day you'll see, I'm going to make something of myself." These words were Dave Pelzer's declaration of independence to his mother, and they represented the ultimate act of self-reliance. Dave's father never intervened as his mother abused him with shocking brutality, denying him food and clothing, torturing him in any way she could imagine. This was the woman who told her son she could kill him any time she wanted to—and nearly did.

The more than two million readers of Pelzer's New York Times and international bestselling memoirs A Child Called "It" and The Lost Boy know that he lived to tell his courageous story. With stunning generosity of spirit, Dave Pelzer invites readers on his journey to discover how he turned shame into pride and rejection into acceptance.

This is, without a doubt, one of, if not the best book I've ever read! Never before has a story made me break down and sob, and at times inspire me, like this book. How his "mother" could have been so evil is beyond my comprehension. But to rise above it like he has is truly a miracle. This is a life changing book. God Bless you, David Pelzer.

This is a great book based on a true story. Dave has finally been able to reach his goals in life and names the "mother who was his "tormentor", thus being able to say what she truly is, along with telling her what /how he feels about her!!! This book, along with the two preceding it, shows that no matter how terribly your life is a child, you can HELP YOUR SELF & SUCCEED IN WHAT EVER YOU WANT TO BECOME!!!! Dave had the "COURAGE" to express himself, and to let HER know that she had not WON!!! GreatDave

I have read his series starting from the child called it . And I really do appreciate Mr.Pelzer, sharing his experiences and how he overcame his fear and forgave people even he does not like them. Because of that, I learnt how to forget bad things and forgive people, and how to think optimistically. No one in my life has told me that endless effort and optimistic wills will keep me on the right track, but because of this book, I could continue trying my best in what I really want to do .Thank you :)!
