The design and construction are described in detail of a small, flush-mounted, piezoelectric pressure gauge, which has been used for diffraction studies on three-dimensional models in a shock tube. The gauge is made with inch diameter tourmaline crystals in a threaded brass case inch in diameter. Sensitivity of the gauge is approximately 4 micro micro coulombs per psi.
