About the author

Dexter Hoyos is Honorary Associate Professor and research affiliate at Sydney University, Australia, where he taught from 1972 until 2007. Author of numerous articles on Roman government, diplomacy, warfare, and historiography, and on Latin epigraphy and pedagogy, his books include Hannibal: Rome's Greatest Enemy (Exeter/Bristol Phoenix 2008); Truceless War: Carthage's Fight for Survival, 241-237 b.c.
