In his smart and thought provoking new book, literary/social critic Mark Caldwell gives us a history of the demise of manners and charts the progress of an epidemic of rudeness in America. Mark Caldwell is a literary critic and the author of an acclaimed socio-medical history of tuberculosis in America, The Last Crusade. He teaches at Fordham University and lives in New York City.
