My all-time favorite line from the Star Trek television series and films is when Worf says, "I am not a Merry Man!" This is my second reading of this volume. I remember reading many of the books in this collection. Some I know I read, but I don't remember. A few I don't believe I have had the privilege to read. But I enjoyed them all. Many books I read, I am content to read a page or two when time allows. I was reluctant to read in this book unless I could read an entire selection. It was probably because this is an anthology. There is no doubt that the vast majority of Star Trek writing amounts to pulp fiction. Yet passage after passage reveals a labor of love. And a few passages are great literature, no caveat required. My favorite moment in this collection is from Q-Pid by Peter David. Q has given Lwaxana Q-powers, and she is using those powers to fight him. "She's really beating the stuffing out of him," observed Riker. "What do you think we should do?" "Sell tickets," rumbled Worf.

About the author

Mary P. Taylor is a trial attorney in Chicago, Illinois, who finds the give and take of the courtroom endlessly exciting and fascinating. A lifelong reader of science fiction and fantasy (as well as anything else she could get her hands on), Ms. Taylor fell in love with Star Trek when it first aired on NBC in 1966. Written Star Trek seemed a logical development to her, and she has read every Star Trek novel ever printed and has published reviews online and for Star Trek fan club newsletters. She lives in the Chicago area with her three beloved cats in a house filled with books, computer parts, cat toys and a few too many Beanie Babies. Her email address is MaryT 2054@aol.com and she expects to hear from many readers who disagree with her choices for this book.
