About this eBook

Eight years ago the December Plague swept through the human population of earth. The Infected were driven mad by the disease, becoming violent and cannibalistic, killing even those closest to them without hesitation.

Six years ago, the tiny surviving community of Immune humans found a cure, and the Infected began to wake up and realize what they'd done. And what had been done to them.

Over time, society began to rebuild itself. Now it is ready to judge those responsible for the Plague. Nella Rider, the court psychologist and Frank Courtlen a defense attorney are trying to establish the truth. But more depends on it than they know. They race to find the answers they need before the fragile remains of humanity vanish for good.

I haven't finished the book yet, but I can't believe the author has made the characters so stupid! It was too obvious who the culprit is from the time the key was pushed under the door. And three fountain pens?! Obvious from the first time they were mentioned that the vials would be in the pens. This writer must think readers are brain dead zombies not to get it immediately.

First third of the book was really interesting, an original take focusing on the recovery. How society might be if billions had died and skillsets we take for granted were no longer available. How the infected re-entered society knowing what they had done. However the middle of the story meandered on a pointless journey, ridiculous injuries, which if didn't happen added nothing to the story. The end was rushed, telling readers what was happening rather than letting things play out organically. When it was clear what was going to happen, getting to that point was full of fake outs before the big reveal. Seeing there are 5 books in the series, I hoping one of them continues on the story of the first third of the book.

Definitely liked the unique look at post zombie apocalypse life and what it meant for those cured with memories intact. Recommended read. However, there are multiple easily fixed typos throughout the book - a level of them much higher than i find acceptable. If you're not OCD about that stuff like me, you should enjoy it thoroughly. In all the dozens of recent zombie books, this one provides the most unique perspective. Not sure i like the twist at the end though ;).
