Furst used to write very good fictional historical esbionage, his last 2 books are not good and this one,in particular, is awful dribble. A waste of time and money.This book is so bad and so trivial it begs the imagination. Furst has lost "it". Hopefully Hollywood will pick this up, make a movie (which Furst appears to be angling at--$$$$) and Furst can retire. His earlier works are great fun, read them then stop!
About the author
Alan Furst is widely recognized as the master of the historical spy novel. Now translated into eighteen languages, he is the author of Night Soldiers, Dark Star, The Polish Officer, The World at Night, Red Gold, Kingdom of Shadows, Blood of Victory, Dark Voyage, The Foreign Correspondent, The Spies of Warsaw, and Spies of the Balkans. Born in New York, he lived for many years in Paris, and now lives on Long Island.
