About this ebook

This is the definitive behind-the-scenes account of Capcom’s horror video game series Resident Evil – one of the most popular, innovative and widely influential franchises of all time.

Industry expert Alex Aniel spent two years interviewing key former members of Capcom staff, allowing him to tell the inside story of how Resident Evil was envisioned as early as the late 1980s, how its unexpected and unprecedented success saved the company from financial trouble, how the series struggled at the turn of the century and, eventually, how a new generation of creators was born after the release of Resident Evil 4.

Itchy, Tasty narrates the development of each Resident Evil game released between 1996 and 2006, interspersed with fascinating commentary from the game creators themselves, offering unique insight into how the series became the world-conquering franchise it is today.

Good read; provides very detailed historiography of RE development during its 'prime', including information on titles and unfinished efforts that most won't know existed. Only gripe is that the ending is pretty abrupt, and even if the author wanted to limit the scope to games up to and including RE4, it was probably still worth a cursory discussion of the later games and the ultimate legacy of the franchise as a whole.

Whoever wants to learn everything about the first decade of Capcom's most famous horror franchise of all time (Resident Evil for those who don't know which I'm refering to 😁) you must have this book in your collection A.S.A.P.Alex Aniel has done maybe the best presentation that ever existed in any format about the early games of the franchise (from their development and story , to their gameplay elements , critical reception , sales and small details that even the most hardcore resi fan might don't know). This book shows Aniel's true dedication and love about the series that popularised (and actually created 🤣) the term survival horror.Alex Aniel you got my respect 👏👏
