It’s a matter of trust… Ida Jane Barlow meets Maxim Dolov on her birthday while she’s using her Fists to defend herself from her horrid ex. Things heat up between them pretty much right away, and it’s exacerbated when she marries him (green card, but the team would have dealt with a B1 visa). They are steamy and have plenty of chemistry but lack trust. Especially when Maxim doesn’t tell her about the worse and icky parts of his past. But I liked both leads (and Millie and Stol). Recommend.

This romantic and well-written novel drew me in from the opening pages as the couple battled through unexpected circumstances and deep emotions. Caught between her ex-boyfriend's abusive domination and Maxim's protectiveness, Ida Jane finds herself struggling to find a middle ground.

Alexa Padgett has another hit novel in this series. It pulls you into the story line from the beginning. Maxim is interested in Ada Jane from the beginning. He wants to protect her from her ex-boyfriend. I did not want to stop reading. Great series.
