The real-life Alice enjoyed the story so much that she asked Carroll to write it down. Thus, this literary classic was born. Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, a British Anglican reverend better known by his literary pseudonym Lewis Carroll, was born in Daresbury on January 27, 1832. He was a novelist, short story writer, fabulist, poet, illustrator, photographer, mathematician, and teacher. He taught mathematics at Christ Church College, Oxford. He is the author of the classic book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, as well as other poems written in a nonsense style throughout his career.
