This book dives right in at page one and keeps you fully engaged and entertained the whole way through! Okay, I might be a tiny bit bias as this book takes place in Oregon and well since I live in Oregon I gotta represent lol! Mel, the main character has a unique talent or as referred to as her “affliction,” that allows for her to see one’s soul. Because of this, Mel often avoids looking directly into a person’s eyes as seeing their soul can be complicated to explain and is often frightening! Mel’s best friend, Dani, recently dies and Mel takes on the responsibility of catching Dani’s killer. In book one, Mel went to Oregon to visit Dani so in book two, Mel is still in Oregon trying to solve Dani’s death. Mel is recruited by Mick, a Homeland Security Agent, to work on this case. Mel thinks she already knows who the killer is, but proving it and with real evidence isn’t the total cakewalk she thought it would be. I loved the characters as they were truly genuine, likable, and relatable. Okay, maybe not relatable on the paranormal front lol, but definitely their personalities and characteristics. There is a funny and entertaining love triangle between Mel, Billy, and Mick! Mel has two hot, sexy, and protective men vying for her attention and commitment. There are quite a few surprises and I’d like to say misdirection’s. Like when you think “a,” is happening, but really as you delve deeper into the situation it’s really “b,” that’s happening. So, lots of good twists that’ll keep you on your toes! This book touches on many genres, but the focus is mostly on paranormal, mystery, suspense, and romance. This book is soundly structured, well written, and evenly paced. This book is written in first person POV. The writing flows and the storylines keep you captivated. This book is book two in the Soul Seeker Book Series. This book is strongly tied in with book one. There are many of the same characters, same settings, and continued storylines. So, if you read book two before book one you will definitely come across tons of book one spoilers! Since this series and author are top-notch, I would absolutely recommend BOTH books! Sadly, I hadn’t read book one first, but I wish I had. Now, now, you can totally read book two on its own. However, I am saying you will be missing out and probably won’t catch all the jokes, references, and background info. Plus, there is a third and final book in this series that is coming out soon. So why not get totally wrapped into this exciting and intriguing book series and read ALL THREE!!! **Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book and have voluntarily provided an honest, and unbiased review in accordance with FTC regulations.**
