Always loved Blake Pierce's books. This one is no exception right from potraying Cassie mindset to the children's disobedience untill the final twist. But there were some places where I felt that Cassie was not prepared well enough for someone who had went through all she had in her younger years. That said may be the character is going to mature and give more clarity to the readers on who Cassie is with the upcoming books in the series.

I've read several of Blake Pierce's books and enjoyed them tremendously, however, this book was simply not believable. The main character had several opportunities to escape and convinced herself that she should stay for 3 horribly unruly children that she had only known for 3 days. It was ridiculous.

Suspenseful book that makes the reader consider boundaries and what one will do to survive. There is the moral dilemma of doing what is easy or doing what is right? Several of the characters feel as if they are unable to see any way out of hopeless situation. There are also hints to a darker side of the main character. The ending leaves you wondering if there was a witness and possible repercussions in a sequel.
