Hanns Heinz Ewers wurde 1871 als Hans Heinrich Ewers in Düsseldorf geboren. 1888 erste Gedichte. Jurastudium. Geht 1901 nach Berlin. Freundschaft mit Gerhart Hauptmann, Erich Mühsam, Max Reinhardt, Frank Wedekind, Herwarth Walden, Else Lasker-Schüler, Maximilian Harden, Paul Scheerbart, Roda Roda, Gustav Klimt u.a. 1901-1912 Ehe mit der Malerin Ilna Wunderwald. 1901 Mitbegründer, später Leiter des 1. deutschen Kabaretts "Ueberbrettl".
