A hauntingly dark story Grey is starting over after a tragedy forces her to reassess her life’s choices. She ends up buying a house that comes with a lot of secrets that are linked to a decades-old murder mystery. Her rebound relationship was difficult to read about, but her growing romance with Declan made the story worthwhile. Told entirely from Grey’s POV, she doesn’t engender much sympathy but she does have her heroic moments. Though it has its dark and gritty moments, the book serves up a solid slice of justice followed by a sweet and very satisfying HEA. More women’s fiction than romance, this story does a fine job of charting Grey’s emotional journey to the life she’s always wanted. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Rattlesnake Road is a fantastic romantic suspense by Amanda McKinney. But, let me warn you readers, you need to buckle up, this is going to be a bumpy ride. Ms. McKinney has once again delivered a well-written book. This book, unlike some of her other work, is more of a slow build-up, with characters just as flawed as in real life. Grey is going to rebuild her life in her new town. Declan is her neighbor and helps her out in exchange for food...that he has to teach her to cook. This story has plenty of drama, humor, sizzle, action and suspense to keep readers glued to their e-book. I enjoyed reading Rattlesnake Road and am once again waiting for the next book from Amanda McKinney. Rattlesnake Road is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from Bookfunnel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This story had a lot going on. I loved Grey, though at times there was too much self pity, but she was strong enough to take on things by herself. I enjoyed the ghost angle, the hidden letters, and the mystery. The small town of Berry Springs was sweet with everyone knowing everyone's business. Etta was a hoot. With two hot men to contend with, I am glad Grey chose the right one. There were some dark moments, but I really enjoyed the story. I received a copy of this story through Xpresso Tours, and this is my unsolicited review.
