SEAL Team 3 Chief Chris Kyle (1974â2013) was awarded two Silver Stars, five Bronze Stars with Valor, and numerous other citations. Following four combat tours in Iraq, he became chief instructor for training Naval Special Warfare sniper teams. He is the author of American Gun: A History of the U.S. in Ten Firearms. A native Texan, Kyle is survived by his wife, Taya, and their two children.

Jim DeFelice is the author of sixteen NY Times best-sellers, including American Sniper, the basis for Bradley Cooperâs blockbuster movie of the same name. Some of his other credits include Every Man a Hero, a best-selling account of Ray Lambertâs heroics at D-Day in World War Two, and They Called Us Lucky, the story of Lima 3/25, the Marine Corpsâ hardest hit unit in the Iraq War, and the life of Congressman Ruben Gallego, a Harvard undergrad who joined the Corps to serve as an enlisted grunt.
