Fate can hold a grudge.

For fugitives of the Regime, Sela Tyron and Jon Veradin, the evidence is undeniable.

Their escape into the Reaches meant a chance at a new life together without looking over their shoulders. However, in this savage, hardscrabble region, the pair quickly find themselves targeted by scheming alien gangsters and cybernetically-enhanced Guild agents.

She was supposed to be dead.

That was the plan anyway.

When a mysterious young woman with strange abilities wakes up as a prisoner of vicious Zenti pirates, a miraculous resurrection is the least of her concerns. Facing a host of new dangers, she needs to escape and find her brother. Can she trust a self-confessed spy to help?

Suit up. Time to join the fight.

If you love gritty, epic space opera like The Expanse or Firefly, this second book in the Allies and Enemies series is meant for you.

About the author

Amy J. Murphy is not a Jedi. (Although she’s married to this Scottish guy that claims to be one.) But, she is a fantastic liar.

She discovered this power at an early age and chose to wield it for good instead of evil (even though the evil part remains highly tempting.) With this power, Amy writes space opera with kickass heroines. These books are sometimes confused for military science fiction which is an easy mistake to make. She’s ok with this as her debut novel, Allies and Enemies: Fallen, was a finalist for the 2016 Dragon Award for Best Military Science Fiction or Fantasy Novel. It also earned the rank of Semi-Finalist in the Kindle Book Awards in the Science Fiction category.

At some point, she infiltrated the ranks of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA). In 2017 her third book, Allies and Enemies: Exiles was a Dragon Award Finalist and her work appeared in the best-selling space opera anthology, Orphans in the Black.

When not geeking out at science fiction conventions, she lives in Vermont with the aforementioned Scotsman/Jedi and two canine overlords.

Allies and Enemies: Fallen, Book 1

Fight. Survive. Repeat. The rules of a soldier are simple.

Born into service of the Regime, Commander Sela Tyron is about as subtle as a hammer. To hammers, any problem can look like a nail, but things aren't always that easy. When Sela is abandoned with her team on a planet full of insurrectionists, things get complicated. A daredevil rescue by her commanding officer reaps deadly consequences, forcing Sela to choose between the only life she’s ever known and the fate of the man she's duty-bound to protect.

Her whole life was a lie. And that's the good news.

Shirking a life of privilege, Erelah Veradin dreamt of building spaceships and exploring the stars in the service of the Regime. When a monstrous truth about her true heritage is revealed, Erelah finds herself at the unwilling center of a scheming mastermind's bid for power.

Allies and Enemies: Exiles, Book 3

If you're going to start a war, know what's at stake.

Ironvale. Splitdawn. Poisoncry.

Three bloodthirsty guilds that control the decaying corner of space called the Reaches. This balance of power exists at a tipping point. One nudge and chaos reigns.

Sela Tyron is willing to supply that nudge to help her partner with an important rescue. Even if it means trusting a shifty criminal. Or turning herself into a power-armored assassin.

Suit up. Time to join the fight.

With new alliances forged and old regimes fractured, Merlin—the cybernetic avatar of Earth's last survivor and immortal beacon to humanity—and the colonies of Safehold have many adventures ahead in Through Fiery Trials, the continuation of David Weber's New York Times bestselling military science fiction series

Those on the side of progressing humanity through advanced technology have finally triumphed over their oppressors. The unholy war between the small but mighty island realm of Charis and the radical, luddite Church of God's Awaiting has come to an end.

However, even though a provisional veil of peace has fallen over human colonies, the quiet will not last. For Safefold is a broken world, and as international alliances shift and Charis charges on with its precarious mission of global industrialization, the shifting plates of the new world order are bound to clash.

Yet, an uncertain future isn't the only danger Safehold faces. Long-thought buried secrets and prophetic promises come to light, proving time is a merciless warden who never forgets.

“Vast, complex, intricate, subtle, and unlaydownable....The biggest thing in science fiction since Isaac Asimov's Foundation series.”—Dave Duncan on the Safehold series

In order to develop a secure defense against a hostile alien race's next attack, government agencies breed child geniuses and train them as soldiers. A brilliant young boy, Andrew "Ender" Wiggin lives with his kind but distant parents, his sadistic brother Peter, and the person he loves more than anyone else, his sister Valentine. Peter and Valentine were candidates for the soldier-training program but didn't make the cut—young Ender is the Wiggin drafted to the orbiting Battle School for rigorous military training.

Ender's skills make him a leader in school and respected in the Battle Room, where children play at mock battles in zero gravity. Yet growing up in an artificial community of young soldiers Ender suffers greatly from isolation, rivalry from his peers, pressure from the adult teachers, and an unsettling fear of the alien invaders. His psychological battles include loneliness, fear that he is becoming like the cruel brother he remembers, and fanning the flames of devotion to his beloved sister.

Is Ender the general Earth needs? But Ender is not the only result of the genetic experiments. The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long. Ender's two older siblings are every bit as unusual as he is, but in very different ways. Between the three of them lie the abilities to remake a world. If, that is, the world survives.

Ender's Game is the winner of the 1985 Nebula Award for Best Novel and the 1986 Hugo Award for Best Novel.
