This book comprises eleven scientific articles related to theoretical studies and research on English Teaching. The principles and the process of first language and second language acquisition are discussed in chapter one followed by the connection between reading and writing in chapter two. Chapter three focuses on strategy-based approach to develop student’s listening comprehension ability while chapter four outlines the development of secondary school students’ communicative competence through discourse.

         Error correction in second language communicative classroom and the role of teacher and peer feedback in teaching writing are discussed in chapter five and chapter six while the strengths and weaknesses of communicative language teaching are explored in chapter seven. In chapter eight the author focuses the discussion on incorporating online Writing Assistant in teaching writing skill for EFL students.  Improving students argumentative writing skill through rubric and group-based Feedback is outlined in chapter nine. Chapter ten discusses English teachers’ expertise in designing and implementing lesson plan for 2013 curriculum and chapter eleven explores teacher’s perception in the use of pre-reading activities in EFL classroom.

About the author

Dr. Karolis Anaktototy, MA accomplished his bachelor's degree at English Education Study Program, FKIP Pattimura University in 1993. In 2001, he earned his Master's degree focusing on Teaching English to Speakers of Other Language (TESOL) at Northern Arizona University, USA. In 2017 he graduated from Jakarta State University for his Doctorate degree focusing on Language Education. Currently he teaches at English Education Study Program FKIP Pattimura University. He teaches Survival English,  Academic Writing, and Professional Writing courses for bachelor degree. Besides, he also teaches Critical Review on Second Language Acquisition, Issues on English Language Teaching, and Advanced Translation for Postgraduate students at English Education Study Program, Pattimura University. He actively writes scientific articles in the field of English learning and the articles were published in Sinta and Scopus indexed journals. He also wrote a book entitled Rubric-Based Academic Writing Strategy and several book chapters. The author was a member of UTBK national English test writer for tertiary entry selection in 2019 and 2020. He was also the coordinator of the Southeast Asian Students Teacher (SEA-Teacher) exchange program at FKIP Pattimura University from 2018 to 2020. He participated in national and international seminars such TEFLIN and TESOL and become one of the keynote speakers at the 7th International Seminar on Education in 2022 organized by FKIP Pattimura University.
