Unless children are trained in self-control and self-discipline early in their lives, they move into their adult years without a sense of personal, familial, or societal responsibility. They are unable to make mature individual decisions and they are unable to effectively disseminate the gospel message in obedience to the Great Commission.

These five stories focus on the necessity of responsibility and self-discipline in the "small things" working from the premise that, "Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much" (Luke 16:10).
The stories are meant to be read by parents and children together and serve as useful conversation starters to educate boys and girls so they can be effective citizens in the Kingdom of God.
About the author
Andrea Schwartz has been active as a home educator since 1983, successfully educating her three children through high school. She has authored eight books, writes the Kingdom-Driven Family blog, and oversees the Chalcedon Teacher Training Institute, a mentoring/study program for Christian women. She is available for consultations, speaking engagements, and promoting Christian education.
Tara Sturlaugson is a native of South Dakota and a homeschooling mother of three. Along with a love for art, she enjoys singing and directing church choirs. She currently lives in San Jose, California, with her husband, Adam, and children Lydia, Geneva, and Levi.
