When SAS come under attack, there's only one man to call...

When a young trooper is shot dead at the SAS's renowned Killing House, Nick Stone is uniquely qualified to investigate.

Less than forty-eight hours later, he finds himself in the telescopic sights of an assassin bent on protecting a secret that could strike at the heart of the establishment - the establishment that Stone has, in his own maverick fashion, spent most of his life fighting to protect.

Isolated and under perpetual threat, he is propelled across Europe in a desperate quest to uncover the truth behind a terrible chain of events that began with a young man haunted by the screams of his brutally murdered friend.

DOWN TO THE WIRE, the latest Nick Stone thriller, is available now.

Dang. Andy Mcnab is usually a sure thing. I love his intimate writing style that makes you question whether these are real stories, just modified to avoid jail or death. But this one is by far the most boring book I've ever had the unfortunate business of reading. I did not care for the story or characters and it was all messy and all over the place. You won't get a gritty tale about a tragic skilled former SF soldier being thrown into the firing line and espionage. Instead, you'll get a story about a guy who just jetSets to about 6 different nations (Where's he getting tbh e money to do that lol). Sometimes has to beat up or kill a stalker. I'd just skip this book or skim over it to the end

Definitely the worst of the Nick Stone adventures. Not in anyway as exciting as previous books. If this is the best Mcnab can come up with might be best to put this character to bed. Would be a shame.

A good book, a very easy read. Pretty fast paced with a strong ending.

About the author

From the day he was found in a carrier bag on the steps of Guy's Hospital in London, Andy McNab has led an extraordinary life.

As a teenage delinquent, Andy McNab kicked against society. As a young soldier he waged war against the IRA in the streets and fields of South Armagh. As a member of 22 SAS he was at the centre of covert operations for nine years – on five continents. During the Gulf War he commanded Bravo Two Zero, a patrol that, in the words of his commanding officer, 'will remain in regimental history for ever'. Awarded both the Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) and Military Medal (MM) during his military career, McNab was the British Army's most highly decorated serving soldier when he finally left the SAS.

Since then Andy McNab has become one of the world’s best-selling writers, drawing on his insider knowledge and experience. As well as several non-fiction bestsellers including Bravo Two Zero, the biggest selling British work of military history, he is the author of the best-selling Nick Stone and Tom Buckingham thrillers. He has also written a number of books for children.

Besides his writing work, he lectures to security and intelligence agencies in both the USA and UK, works in the film industry advising Hollywood on everything from covert procedure to training civilian actors to act like soldiers. He continues to be a spokesperson and fundraiser for both military and literacy charities.
