I’ve just finished reading an early copy of Dauntless (Sleep Saga Book 1) by Angela Cavanaugh. This story tells how people react when they are given the ability extend their life through a period of hibernation, obviously only the rich can afford it. period of being young – if they can afford the price. In this case, only the very rich can afford the treatment and do so liberally. Until something goes wrong ..... The novel and concept is the first In an intriguing and thought-provoking new series. The characters are well crafted, especially the main character, with clear and compelling motives. The author is able to construct wonderful, elaborate scenes, some which are lavish and absurdly decadent, and others which are constructed in the clinical futuretech of Keene’s laboratories. The settings have an authentic, immersive quality and readers are drawn into the story. Dauntless raises deep questions about the ethical dilemma of current and future medical advances designed to expand natural lifespans. At some point one must ask, are we playing god?
