Die fotografische Repräsentation von Behinderung ist so alt wie die Fotografie selbst. Sie ist zudem daran beteiligt, dass »Behinderung« als Gegenentwurf zu dem gilt, was diskursiv als »Normalität« hergestellt wird. Um die Frage nach den Blickregimes, der Medialität und der (seriellen) Produktion von Behinderung im fotografischen Dispositiv beantworten zu können, verknüpft Anna Grebe anhand der Analyse eines ab 1880 geführten und ca. 50.000 Aufnahmen umfassenden Fotoarchivs die neuesten Erkenntnisse der Disability Studies mit den Grundlagen der Visual Culture und leistet so einen Beitrag zu einer Theorie der sozio-medialen Konstruktion von Behinderung.

Anna Grebe (Dr. phil.) lebt und arbeitet in Berlin. Die Medienwissenschaftlerin promovierte an der Universität Konstanz und forscht und lehrt seitdem u.a. in Linz und Wien (Österreich) sowie in Valparaíso (Chile).
