Issue 16.1 of the Georgetown Journal of International Affairs focuses on the topic of Inequality from a range of perspectives. Inequality manifests itself economically and politically, in legal terms and geographic ones, along gender lines, and in a myriad of other ways. In some cases, discrimination is deliberate, harsh, and obvious. But perhaps more commonly, it is unintended and its exact impacts are harder to identify. This issue’s Forum considers the multitude of ways in which people around the globe struggle with structural violence, uneven application of the law, struggles for scarce resources, and other challenges. And it also poses possible ways forward.
Additional contributions to this publication include articles about the role of religion in post-Arab Spring constitutions, the motivations behind Chinese multinational companies, the effects of climate change on cultures, the use of social media by terrorists, and public opinion in Ukraine. The issue also features interviews with Tom Malinowski on struggles for democracy around the world, Gerry Adams on the lessons of the Irish peace process, and Lester Brown on food prices and political instability. The Georgetown Journal of International Affairs is the official publication of the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.
