O livro Ao correr da pena (folhetins inéditos), de José de Alencar, apresenta oito folhetins inéditos do romancista romântico. Os textos, publicados inicialmente no jornal Correio Mercantil, entre setembro de 1854 e julho de 1855, não aparecem na fortuna literária do autor, sendo, a rigor, textos inéditos, já que, até hoje, além de nunca estudados, nunca tinham sido recolhidos em livro. Além dos folhetins, o livro é aberto pelo ensaio “O enigma dos folhetins”, de Wilton José Marques, que levanta algumas questões sobre o porquê de os textos não terem sido anteriormente publicados.
