Edwin Ansty died a hero's death in France in 1918. Of that, Laura, his daughter, has been assured by everyone in the village of Ansty Parva. Kathryn Haig was born in Scotland. She has been an officer in the Women's Royal Army Corps, a civil servant, and a computer programmer. She now lives with her husband, daughter, and an assortment of animals in the New Forest of England.
