Although these presentations are with specific reference to Europe, they provide potentially useful lessons for other regions as well. This volume is aimed at the following five major target audiences: University and College Students Educators, Professional Practitioners, Research Personnel and Policy Analysts, Managers, and Decision Makers, NGOs and GOs.

Alexander Mather is Professor of Geography at the Department of Geography, University of Aberdeen, UK. His research interests are in rural land use and Environmental management, with particular reference to forest-related issues in Scotland, the United Kingdom and globally.
