I have avoided this man's book's for far too long. If you like historical fiction I would put his story telling right up there with Cornwell,Iggulden,Sidebottom but not jack whyte(he's still the best). Books could be a little longer though...just sayin

Appropriately brutal, carefully detailed, occasionally hilarious, the entire series has been a joy to read.

Anthony Riches holds a degree in Military Studies from Manchester University. He began writing the story that would become the first novel in the Empire series, Wounds of Honour, after visiting Housesteads Roman fort in 1996.
