Who Am I?
They call me Günay Aktürk, a dust of stars. My poetry comes from my father's lineage. I was born in a city chained to their minds. It was July evening in 1984, but as a member of an enlightened people called "Alevi" who have suffered centuries of oppression and slaughter for living against the Islamic faith - not praying, fasting, or going to Hajj...
In 2001, something was accelerated with the poem my father recited live on a radio in Sorgun district on an autumn evening. The poem had a section that said, "I worship Allah and always adore you." Then came the trials, interrogations, and hate-filled insults... One evening, three cars full of bigots came to burn our farm down!
My whole life has been a struggle against darkness. During my military service, they found a few lines of poetry under my pillow and sent me to military prison. I said, "Hope, like a worker swinging on a gallows..."
But my life is not entirely political. I dig deeper into the layers. Let me explain, sir:
As I said, they call me Günay Aktürk, a dust of stars. The thinking state of matter. A primitive body with modern structure!
I am one of the five living species of monkeys. Others are trying to deny their origin, while I always stay "beyond" in them!
Reading, thinking, and writing... These are the only mechanisms for emptying my mind. Maybe a bit impolite! But without taboo and without law. But with honor...
Here are my books:
My poetry book "Child of Hope" dedicated to Berkin Elvan, who was killed in 2014.
My novella book "Delusions," where I seek answers to questions like, what is love? Does a person cheat because they have multiple partners? (It says on the cover, "I think you're too smart to fall in love!")
And my essay book of 2020: "Humanity is the Future of Humanity."
To the narrow-minded terrorists of the world, I have a message. I believe that science and art will save humanity. One will carve out their ignorance, the other their animalistic nature. I have been asking myself for years. I ask, who am I? Am I human? Am I a monkey? Am I a caterpillar?
I was here before I was born, but not as a soul. Oh no, I don't have that! Maybe I'm an energy, maybe a frequency! Steam became vapor and said to the cloud, "I'm the gaseous state of matter." Is the essence of steam gas? It rained down to the ground. Is the essence of rainwater? Maybe I'm a piece of everything. Maybe I am my own universe!
