About this eBook

A born protector, Asher signs up for jobs even the most trained men won’t take …

But finding a set of female autistic twins in mainland China—after someone has gone to a great deal of effort to make sure they are never found—isn’t easy. Finding those responsible behind the actual kidnapping is even harder …

Mickie, hired to look after the twins for the last six months, is still recovering from the trauma of being beaten and drugged, waking to find her adult charges gone. Beside herself already, then seeing Asher, her ex from ten years ago, is another sock to her gut. And to her heart. … She’s not the same person she was back then and, being with him again, shows her just how much she’d screwed up her relationship with him.

Yet betrayal, deceit and bodies litter their pathway as they struggle to save the missing women before the kidnapper’s assassins get close enough to take them out instead …

Layers upon layers of intrigue. This one read as a well done mystery! Lots of possibilities with a few surprises at the end. This is Ashers story and we met him in Beaus, as he was Beaus back up. He heads to China with his back up Ryker and a second. A second who turns out to be his ex fiance who was a nurse to the twins who were kidnapped. I wasnt that fond of his ex and I have to say I liked Asher a lot better in Beaus. Beyond that this was a wild ride, car, boat, plane with double crossing, and plenty of villains to choose from, a really wild mystery. Thank you Dale Mayer an Booksprout for the arc! I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.

This is book 5 in The Mavericks series and it features Asher and Mickey. It’s been 10 years since they were together. She broke it off because she didn’t feel worthy of him. Obviously she had some issues that needed to be worked out. Now, she is the nurse/caretaker of two autistic women who have been kidnapped. Asher and Ryker have been sent to find them. The family they are working for are some extremely scandalous people! I felt a connection between Asher and Mickey but it wasn’t flirty or romantic. It was more like two people who used to know each other but now were not sure how they would be received by the other. It’s a thin line between love and hate. The action and adventure were top notch! The mystery and suspense is fantastic throughout this entire series! I would have liked a little flirting or SOMETHING between Asher and Mickey but at the same time I love how the majority of the romance doesn’t take place until the mystery is solved or close to it. I’m looking forward to Ryker’s book next!

I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it. This was a fast-paced book. Asher is the lead on this missing persons case. Two autistic twin former models were kidnapped in China. Asher will be working with Ryker and a "plus one". The "plus one" turns out to be his former ex-fiancee from 10 years ago, Mickie. Mickie is a nurse and has been working with the twins for the past 6 months. The book was well written and in my favorite dual POV format. There was a lot of mystery, murder and intrigue here. The spark between Asher and Mickie was slow to come into the story and reveal itself. The bedroom scene was highly glossed over but based on that, I can only recommend this to someone over the age of 18. Even though this is the fifth book of the series, this book can be read as a stand-alone.
