I've said often Autumn Reed is one of my favorite authors because her writing is intelligent. This twist on The Wizard of Oz is so clever. The comparisons were sometimes clear, sometimes subtle, sometimes humorous, always entertaining. Moss Harbor and Kansas are the backdrops. The characters Dorothy (Thea), Leo (Lion), Tristin (Tinman), Hayle (Scarecrow) all exhibit character growth endearing them to us as the readers. The Wicked Witch, Good Witch, the Wizard, and Toto too are all represented but no spoilers. The journey down the yellow brick road is the mystery of Thea's mother's death. And the message of love and home is delivered in the end. To get there we needed this final book, Hayle's story. His intelligence has been overshadowed by his desire to win the approval of his father and his lack of confidence. He's never felt equal to his brothers or felt his place in the family was as secure or important. Like his brothers, he needed Thea's return to figure out his own mind.

WOW can honestly say, I have never felt more complete, when finishing the last book in a series!! Autumn wrapped this book jump in a beautiful package (story). So many thing happened and I loved it all. Love, action, suspense, family, closure, secrets revealed, (wow we're they revealed)!! I won't be left wondering what the future looks like for Tristin, Thea, Leo and Hayle, because she wrapped this up on a perfect pretty bow and I will forever smile when I think about this updated Wizard of Oz telling, it was beautiful, ingenious and amazingly written!! I will definitely be recommending this one left and right, so don't wait start the journey as soon as you can!!!
