When watching is no longer enough Emma Holly certainly lives up to my expectations. Beck and Call is hotter than hell and not a read I was willing to put aside even when life interrupted. I don’t think it matters what this author pens it always has a way of drawing me into the story and her characters always capture my emotions and take me for a roller coaster ride. That’s not to say that the characters are angst ridden or anything of the sort but rather that they are well developed and multi-layered. You can’t help loving them foibles and all. Mia, Jake and Damien all have their quirks but each of them pulls you in and has you wanting to see them make their blossoming relationship work. Mia is the cement that bonds the ménage. The receptionist for a PI firm, Mia has been fantasizing about her co-worker Jake for years. When her deceased brother’s lover, Curtis who also happens to be her boss suggests she would be the perfect honey trap in a new case of corporate espionage she’s admittedly reluctant. That is until she’s paired with Jake to intrigue the voyeuristic needs of their target, billionaire Damien Call. As Curtis puts it, “Because you radiate sexual interest and at the same give the impression you’ve never been satisfied. If a man ever devoted himself to you, ever truly paid attention to your needs, you’d explode with excitement.” Combine that interest with the innocence she exudes and you definitely have what it takes to intrigue Damien Call. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that he’s had his eyes on Jake for some time now. Shocking as their suggestion might be, finding out that both Curtis and Jake are members of an elite sex club, one that Damien also attends is the icing on the cake. Jake is an ex CIA black ops operative. He’s seen enough violence and intrigue to last a lifetime and knows he’s too jaded for innocent, submissive Mia. However, that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t like to take a bite of that. When their plan is hatched he knows he’s not willing to let anyone else carry it out. No one else will care for her like he will and no one else will protect her like he can. The idea is to draw Damien in close enough to discover if he’s has been stealing corporate secrets that could impact the country at high levels of the government. Their secret weapon is Mia and not for her curvy sexual appeal but rather for the uncanny ability she has to recall anything she’s seen. His job is to make sure she stays safe doing it. His position as the renowned Master R at the club provides them with the perfect in. Damien Call has had his share of stalker ex-girlfriends even from an early age before success and money became a factor. You might say it’s colored his world where women and love are concerned. He’s learned to watch and savor the denial of instant gratification. He’s icy in his business dealings and a brilliant engineer. He’s also very controlling and likes to call the shots. So, imagine what happens when two very dominant men struggle with just who is in charge. Talk about hot! When these two went at it, I swear my eReader fairly sizzled. Put Mia between them and I’m surprised my reader didn’t explode. But what happens when reality catches up with them all? How do you deal with betrayal? How do you deal with stalker employees, ex-girlfriends and corporate enemies? Mia, Jake and Damien prove they are up for the challenges. Beck and Call is an awesome read that exemplifies Ms. Holly’s ability to bring the heat. If you’re into a bit of suspense and espionage mixed with your kink and heat then look no further, Beck and Call fits the bill. I would highly recommend it.
