About this ebook

What is America becoming? Or, more importantly, what can she be if we reclaim a vision for the things that made her great in the first place? Join Dr. Ben Carson as he explores what made this nation great and discovers how we can find our way back.

In America the Beautiful, Dr. Ben Carson helps us learn from our past in order to chart a better course for our future. From his personal ascent from inner-city poverty to international medical and humanitarian acclaim, Carson shares experiential insights that help us understand:

  • What is already good about America
  • Where we have gone astray
  • Which fundamental beliefs have guided America from her founding into preeminence among nations

Written by a man who has experienced America's best and worst firsthand, America the Beautiful is at once alarming, convicting, and inspiring. You'll gain new perspectives on our nation's origins, our Judeo-Christian heritage, our educational system, capitalism versus socialism, our moral fabric, healthcare, and much more.

An incisive declaration of the values that shaped America's past and must shape her future, America the Beautiful calls us all to use our God-given talents to improve our lives, our communities, our nation, and our world.

This guy is a Grade-A idiot. He is an actual stupid person, and he possibly has a mental disorder. "I have had a gun held on me when I was in a Popeye's *ORGANIZATION.* Guy comes in, put the gun in my ribs. And I just said, 'I believe that you want the guy behind the counter.'" This is the same guy that said: "Not only would I probably not cooperate with him, I would not just stand there and let him shoot me, I would say, ‘Hey guys, everybody attack him. He may shoot me, but he can’t get us all."

I admit, I'm only halfway through this book, but I'm thoroughly impressed with what I've read so far. Most of Carson's arguments stem from looking at the present through the lens of the past, and looking at this country through the context of the debates and strides of our forefathers really does lend a huge sense of appreciation for the country we have today - even in its broken state. Sometimes I look at this country and see nothing but scandals and disappointment, from both the right and the left. However, after reading this book, I feel so much hope for the country. Everyone should read this, and if I could I'd get it in the hands of every high schooler. That being said, occasionally I find the pace of the book slow and not as engaging as it could be at times. This is not the norm of the book, but it does have moments like this, so I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5.

A little slow reading, but well thought out. Dr. Carson is a great American. We could use a lot more patriotic logical thinkers in this country!
