Two Amish young people with painful secrets try to fight falling in love as they come to accept that life doesn't always go smoothly. They learn that God being in control does not mean bad things don't happen to those who trust Him, only that He will help them through whatever comes. I like that the characters this author creates are realistic, experience all of life's ups and downs, are imperfect. Not everyone in her stories lives "happily ever after" but they lean on God for strength

This story is heart warming and has the substance to keep you reading until the end...I love the characters. Teachings about forgiveness and letting love prevail are key points that kept me thinking about the book even when not actually reading it.

I loved this story. It was a great spinoff from her Daughters of the Promise series. Bringing some of the characters from that series really helped start this one. This was a story about two people who were drawn to each other with both feeling that the secrets they were holding back would keep them from ever having the life they longed to have. I highly recommend this book.
