About this ebook

A handsome, idealistic politician.

A beautiful wife with a sinful past.

As their marriage of convenience turns to love, it faces an earth-shattering revelation.

Three years since Adelaide, Lady Leeson, entered into a marriage of duty, she finds herself deeply in love with the honourable and compassionate husband who rescued her during her darkest days.

But when Adelaide's former lover returns to England, now a notorious figure thanks to his scandalous poems, society becomes consumed with uncovering the identity of his muse.

As Adelaide's mother upholds the façade of her daughter's faultless past, Adelaide must reinforce these fabrications—at great personal cost.

For if Tristan were to discover the truth, could he possibly continue to love her?

A passionate and tender tale of a second chance at love, filled with regrets, redemption, and the mending of past mistakes.

This book is full of angst, pain, abuse, secrets, betrayal, murder, infidelity and the saving grace, love. It was impossible to stop reading. Adelaide carries secrets from her past covered up with lies told by her mother. She married Tristen, Lord Leeson, a few years after his first wife's death and her emotional breakdown. Unfortunately their marriage is controlled by one person who wants to keep them apart. When Tristen's close friend, James, Viscount Dewhurst, shows up it's a downward spiral out of control for a friendship and a marriage. Much will test Addy and Tristen's love for each other. Not an easy read at all!!! Heat level 3. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I have not read a story of Beverley Oakley's I did not like. They are often a bit on the dark side, which makes them more interesting. Not knowing where events would lead and anticipating dire consequences for Addy as the lies and her mother's influence seemed to overwhelm her, I took a short break from this, as I needed to read something light in between. There are some unanticipated surprises in store for Addy and the reader. A very engrossing read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

About the author

Beverley was seventeen when she sent her first romance to a publisher.

Having drowned the heroine on the last page, failure followed swiftly, until a whirlwind romance with a handsome Norwegian bush pilot she met in Botswana's beautiful Okavango Delta, recalibrated her romance instincts.

Since then, she’s written more than thirty sweet to sizzling historical romances, laced with mystery and intrigue, under the name Beverley Oakley and Beverley Eikli.

She also writes Africa-set aviation romantic suspense with a pilot hero as B G Nettelton.
