The commentary of Shankara on the Gita is regarded as an outstanding specimen of Indian scholarship. The translator has accomplished his task in a most praiseworthy manner by giving a faithful translation, without in any way detracting from the strength or clarity of the original commentary. రచయిత పరిచయం

Swami Gambhirananda (1899 - 1988) was the 11th President of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission. He had a profound knowledge of the scriptures with many books to his credit. He had translated the main Upanisads in Bengali. He had translated eight Upanisads in English, with the commentaries of Sankaracharya. He had also translated the Brihadaranyaka Upanisad and the Bhagavad Gita (the present work), with the commentaries of Sankaracharya as well as with Madhusudan Sarasvati’s annotation on the Gita. Further, he composed authentic biographies of the Holy Mother and Swami Vivekananda in Bengali which were brought out during their birth centenaries. He also brought out a compilation of the biographies of the direct disciples of Sri Ramakrishna.
