I was interested in this book because an anime is coming, and I ended up just wishing the anime would be better. Because the book is //annoying//. I do not know whether the writer really wrote things that way, or whether it's the influence of the translator, but the result is that the characters are INSUFFERABLE. Sadly Eliana, the main heroine, is the most insufferable of all. Arc 1 was the worst - written from Eliana's POV, we saw her doing NOTHING other than 1) trying to convince us that she and her family are just SO DIFFERENT because they're great lovers of books 2) brooding, without trying to confirm, over the thought that the prince might call their engagement off. Everything else was done by other characters out of Eliana's knowledge, which means we readers know nothing about them too - until the prince said yeah everything's sorted out, and let me name her great accomplishments up to now one by one that she herself is even oblivious about!!!!

Great story ! I really enjoyed reading this book. Our main character is quite relatable, always surrounded by books. Which makes her quite oblivious to all the people rushing around her. Her airheadness is endearing. The other characters, Glen, Alex, Theodore and Chris have a nice dynamic. Let's pray for the souls of all the ones that must live everyday watching our sweet couple. Definitely recommend.

Read the manga which convinced me to read the novel as well and I have no regrets! I have to say that the manga follows the novel quite closely. With the exception of the novel going much deeper into Eliana's thoughts and perspective, the manga is quite a faithful adaption. It was a very cute story albeit a little dramatic. The relationship between the main leads are quite cute as well so it was a very enjoyable read.
