De poëzie in Bladgrond is ijl, als berglucht, ‘naarmate / een gebergte ons / lokt, de twijfel nog / hoger klimt, een uitzicht / ruimdenkend / zich inkeert, de adem / beneemt’. De dichter is op weg naar een doel dat hij niet kent, hij raapt op wat niet gevonden kan worden, bemerkt dat zijn hijgen zwaarder wordt, zijn tred slepender. Maar zijn woorden staan gegrift in een rots en zullen de wind en de regen trotseren. ‘Vol modder het niets.’
