The end of "Rogue" finds me with almost as many questions regarding who Maxence is as the beginning of the book-- but I promise that slooowly he is starting to be unveiled. One thing that is made abundantly clear is that Maxence lives two polar opposite lives and this results in my finding myself even MORE intrigued by him. This story will rip your heart to shreds as it slowly knits two to become one. Dree is thankful for the distraction of this blessed mission trip to Nepal. She couldn't have asked for anything farther away from her problems then this. Everything is going great until she discovers she knows another team member.. very intimately. Maxence isn't sure what to think when he finds out Dree is a part of his trip. He thought he would never see her again, but there seems to be a different plan at work here. Once he sees her selfless and generous heart at work, he knows he will never be the same again. Now he years for what he can't have, but is she truly lost to him? Can love show him another path that would be just as fulfilling and yet allow him to keep her by his side? Max and Dree make quite a brilliant and unique pair. They give their whole hearts generosly and with no hesitation to those who simply ask for help. Their growing love for the other is just as powerful and selfless. Yes, they want and desire, but not at the expense of the other. They only seek to empower and assist. What a power couple they could be! Max & Dree I’ve been waiting for Maxence’s story for...EVER! He has always been a favorite character of mine as he weaves in and out through the books dedicated to his friends and family. Order is book 2 in the Max & Dree story arc and it picks up where Rogue left off. These romantic suspense stories are so much more than you’d expect from a typical billionaire story. She pulls us fully into the world of royalty, luxury, wealth, and espionage; with a side of potentially deadly family drama. In this installment, we really start to see how Max’s personality has been forged. After a one-night stand turned one-week stand, Dree and Max parted ways. Unrelated circumstances reunite them in Nepal where they undertake an amazing journey through the interior. Angsty love, compassion, deception and danger...all the staples of a contemporary romance series from Blair. You’ll want to read this series in order. I voluntarily received an ARC in exchange for an honest review, although I would have happily bought it! I’ve read more than a dozen of Blair’s books, and not once have I been disappointed.

I love that we finally get to see Max as his alter-ego, Deacon Father Maxence and that we begin to understand that there’s more at play for him than merely desire, in his quest to become a Jesuit priest. Over the years, in some of the other stories, we’ve learned snippets of Max’s life through the eyes of his close friends. Now, we have his own narrative, which brought so much clarity to the choices he’s made. I enjoyed the team’s journey into the wilds of Nepal along with the challenges they encountered to fulfill their mission. It was also terrific to see Dree in her element as an ER nurse practitioner. She was knowledgeable, experienced, compassionate and quick-thinking.... When I finished reading this compelling tale, I had several thoughts: First and foremost – I loved it! Secondly, it was a deeper, more profound reading experience than what I was anticipating – which was fantastic! And, thirdly, the next installment – ‘Prince’, cannot come soon enough! The story is well written and the characters are well-defined and convincing. There’s some adventure, danger, conflict and humour along with a range of emotions and a few steamy encounters. I received an Advance Reader Copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.
