About this eBook

In Douglas Preston's Blasphemy, the world's biggest supercollider, locked in an Arizona mountain, was built to reveal the secrets of the very moment of creation: the Big Bang itself.

The Torus is the most expensive machine ever created by humankind, run by the world's most powerful supercomputer. It is the brainchild of Nobel Laureate William North Hazelius. Will the Torus divulge the mysteries of the creation of the universe? Or will it, as some predict, suck the earth into a mini black hole? Or is the Torus a Satanic attempt, as a powerful televangelist decries, to challenge God Almighty on the very throne of Heaven?

Twelve scientists under the leadership of Hazelius are sent to the remote mountain to turn it on, and what they discover must be hidden from the world at all costs. Wyman Ford, ex-monk and CIA operative, is tapped to wrest their secret, a secret that will either destroy the world...or save it.

The countdown begins...

This is definitely my favorite book of all time. It kept me interested the whole time; I couldn't get enough. I'm usually pretty good at predicting books (and movies), but I could never have guessed what would happen next. The best (and scariest) thing about this book is that it is SO realistic. I seriously would forget that it was fiction sometimes. I don't have a single bad thing to say about this book, except that there's not enough of it! I wish there was a follow up, but it wouldn't be the same... you know what I mean. Anyways, I loved this. I recommend it to everyone.

Don't be fooled by the innocuous beginnings of this book because it accelerates rapidly. In Blasphemy, science and religion collide with ambition, religious fervor, human gulliblity and mob mentality as the guiding forces. An excellent read!

A great read. Really picked up about halfway through and had me glued to it until the end. Leaves the reader with food for thought about the origins of religions all over the world today... and throughout time as we know it.
