I have not finshed the book yet but it focuses on how an average American, of the time period of when it was written, thinks about the world and the ideal American that gives innuendo of how America makes what type of people. Very intriguing indeed and interesting of how the author tries to explain the adequate thinking of American people. From reading so far, Bliss Perry doesn't want people to act this way, he is only showing how they really act. The description of an American presented in this book can highly relate to the American people today as well.
