Overall, this book was fine. I do not intend to continue reading the series, but I do not regret buying it or taking the time to read it. I found the main protagonist's to be very entertaining. His smugness cam off as charming rather than annoying. Also, his argument that his use of pay to win was an extension of his real world awesomeness was pretty amusing. Next, The world was interesting enough to make me want to know more about the game world and the company making the game, but the book didn't never got around to filling in those blanks. Finally, The stakes for the main conflict are personal to a character who isn't one of the protagonist, but rather one of their friends. As a result, I wasn't particularly invested in the outcome. The author did put in the work to try and make me care, but I just couldn't get there. I suppose my main problems was that I was expecting an adventure story ala infinite dendrogram or SAO but got something on a much smaller scale.
