A unique twist on Beauty and the Beast

The Burdened Widow...

Millicent Wentworth is burdened by the sins of her deceased husband and determined to undo the wrongs he inflicted upon the innocent souls he ensnared in his web of deceit. Her only recourse lies in a union of necessity—with none other than the enigmatic widower, Lyon Pennington, Earl of Aytoun.

The Broken Groom...

Lyon Pennington, scarred by tragedy and haunted by accusations, seeks solace in a marriage of convenience orchestrated by his mother. As he grapples with his own demons, he finds unexpected healing in the presence of Millicent, a beacon of light in his darkness.

The Awakening Desire...

In the tender embrace of Millicent, Lyon discovers a path to redemption, his heart slowly thawing beneath her gentle touch. And as their bond deepens, Millicent realizes that beyond Lyon's gruff exterior lies a man of unparalleled kindness and passion—a man she yearns for with every beat of her heart. In each other's arms, they find not only solace but the promise of a love that defies all odds, igniting a desire that burns brighter than any flame.

FIVE STARS… The story was excellent! This couple faces some severe challenges that would not easily be overcome by anyone, and yet together they pull through and become stronger. I really really loved the story line…This book was the best I’ve read from an author I didn’t already know in a long while. I do hope you will grab it up as soon as you have a chance.

A novel rich in details about an era when slavery was newly abolished in England. It touches on several social and medical issues of the day while presenting rich and memorable characters in a thrilling plot. Fascinating read!

I read this years ago and have just re-read it after reading The Promise, in which we are introduced to Millicent as a supporting character. Stayed up (too) late to finish. Here Millicent gets her HEA. The loss of her estate seems unavoidable due to her late husband's debts. Then she's unexpectedly receives an offer from the Dowager Countess of Aytoun, an offer she is in no position to refuse. What starts as a marriage of convenience slowly becomes one of respect, affection and passion. Background historical themes are slavery in England and the Highland clearings in Scotland. Great storytelling with some humorous dialog and original storyline.
