Caroline (Caro)
Concha (Concepción Marcella Argüello) was a very interesting ancestor of mine & one I grew up hearing about the most(my grandmother was a professional international storyteller who seemed to know everyone. Invited to meet Kings, Queens & other heads of state she travelled speaking many, interesting & important figures. She was invited, spoke in Iran & was shot at for speaking to a conference of women in the 1970s before it was opened up to the west. Growing up, there was always an extra place set at the table, for one never knew who would stop by; an Indian chief, a magician, a senator, a puppeteer, or even Earth, Wind & Fire spent the night here when performing in our town!)This poem hardly does her justice, so I implore anyone curious, to search for articles to round out her unforgettable story. Hopefully soon I'll be starting a podcast or writing a book (or maybe both!) about interesting female ancestors of mine, specifically those living in early Spanish California.
